HP Unveils New Additions to OfficeJet Pro and LaserJet Pro Families

HP has just announced new additions to the OfficeJet and LaserJet families, intended for the small business market.

Included are the OfficeJet Pro 8000 and 6900 series, OfficeJet 200 mobile printers and the LaserJet M501 and M33 printers.

Here’s a rundown of each printer being introduced by HP:

OfficeJet Pro 8000 Series

These new OfficeJet Pro printers come with enhanced manageability and security features, seamless mobile printing and access to the HP Instant Ink supplies replacement program. (When your printer detects supplies are running low, it orders ink, shipping it straight to your door.)

The Pro 8000 series has undergone a number of changes, says HP, which include:

• Face down correct order paper output on top of printer rather than towards the customer;
• High-speed duplex capability. Previously, only one page was in motion; now two pages are in motion;
• Almost 100 percent of rated engine speed: 24 PPM;
• 50 percent lower cost per page compared with laser printing;
• Simultaneous two-sided scanning capability;
• Movable icons on the control panel;
• Ability to use a thumb drive and print a file directly;
• Enhanced security.

The new OfficeJet Pro printers include:

OfficeJet Pro 8710/8720/8730/8740 All-in-One Series. Small businesses with print requirements of no more than 2,000 pages a month will appreciate the professional quality and lower cost of this series. As explained above, printing costs are up to 50 percent lower than laser.

HP OfficeJet Pro 8720/8730/8740 All-in-One Series. This series features what HP calls “Print Forward Design,” which delivers improved office productivity with high speeds for two-sided print and scan jobs, laser-like paper handling and space-saving design, to preserve office real estate.

HP OfficeJet Pro 8730/8740 All-in-One/OfficeJet Pro 8210. These printers include enhanced manageability and security features.

The OfficeJet Pro 8700 series is expected to be available in April, starting at $199.99. HP projects the OfficeJet Pro 8210 will be available in September, for $129.99.

OfficeJet Pro 6900 Series

OfficeJet Pro 6960/6970 All-in-One. This series is designed for micro and home-based businesses printing up to 800 pages a month. They provide professional quality printing at less than half the cost of laser printing.

The OfficeJet Pro 6900 series is expected to be available in June, starting at $149.99.

OfficeJet 200 Series Mobile Printers

Mobile OfficeJet printers come with two options: the 200 and 250 Mobile All-in-One models, both of which enable printing while in the field. Users can scan documents and send them back to the office via a WiFi network, making these printers ideal for the construction, insurance and real estate industries.

The mobile printers feature drop protection and can even charge mobile devices, acting as a spare battery. HP expects the printers to be available within 30 to 60 days, with prices starting at $199.

HP LaserJet Printers

The LaserJet family provides customers with print shop document quality, fast speed and the “best value” on black-and-white printing, says HP.

The new products come embedded with original HP Toner cartridges that use JetIntelligence technology, designed to help you print faster and get up to 33 percent more prints per cartridge. (Also, since there is no tab to pull, toner stays in the cartridge, not on the office floor.)

The new line of LaserJets include:

LaserJet Pro M501. The HP M501 is a single function, monochrome printer for small to medium-sized businesses printing up to 6,000 pages a month. It offers the fastest first page out from ready, the fastest first page out from sleep and lowest total energy consumption of printers in its class.

The HP LaserJet Pro M501 series is expected to be available in April, starting at $549.

Color LJ Pro M377. HP removed the fax, making the M377 series a three-in-one printer ideal for smaller businesses printing up to 4,000 pages a month. Like the M501 series, it uses JetIntelligence toner, the fastest first page out from sleep, fastest duplex printing and lowest total energy consumption.

The M377 series is expected to be available in April, for $489.
